As reported by Fashionista on Wednesday, American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) has committed to donating $1 million to Covid-19 relief efforts across the country, as well as 1 million masks to public health workers.
The company has also made an unspecified donation to America’s Food Fund and is giving 2,000 gift cards to healthcare workers in NYC and other coronavirus hotspots. On top of this, the group is organizing a live-streamed concert through which viewers can donate to America’s Food Fund, with AEO pledging to match donations up to $100,000.

On Wednesday, the New York-based beauty conglomerate announced that it has awarded a $2 million grant to Doctors Without Borders in order to support the NGO’s efforts to fight the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. More locally, the company has also contributed a grant for the establishment of The NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund, a $75 million initiative administered by the New York Community Trust to provide critical support for NYC’s social services and community organizations. Further initiatives being taken by the company in its hometown include the donation of 2 million surgical masks for front-line medical staff in New York. The group’s Clinique brand will also be donating 50,000 skin care products to thank doctors and nurses in the city for their work, while Mac be taking the local approach global, donating $10 million to 250 local organizations around the world through its Viva Glam Fund. In addition, over $800,000 has been donated by Estée Lauder to support relief efforts in China, while the company’s manufacturing sites in the United States, the United Kingdom and Belgium have begun producing hand sanitizer for high-need groups. Estée Lauder also revealed a variety of measures it is implementing to protect its own business from the economic disruption being caused by the coronavirus crisis. Initiatives range from executive salary cuts of between 10% and 50%, to the suspension of share repurchases and quarterly dividends, and expanded cost control measures.
H&M
H&M USA, the Swedish fast fashion retailer’s U.S.-based subsidiary, has announced that it is making an in-kind donation of more than $2 million of products, such as bedding, sheets and clothing, to organizations including the Children’s Defense Fund, Glam4Good, Los Angeles LGBT Center and the Nashville Rescue Mission. The company has also partnered with Givz so that for every $60 spent on H&M’s U.S. e-commerce platform, $10 will be donated to a range of charities supporting frontline workers during the pandemic, up to a maximum donation of $150,000. H&M USA’s donations reflect wider efforts being made by Stockholm-based H&M Group to support the fight against Covid-19, including the production of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the donation of $500,000 to the WHO’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
PVH
The owner of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger has pledged a further $1 million in donations to support Covid-19 relief efforts, making for a total donation of $2 million being made through its philanthropic fund, the PVH Foundation. Funds will go primarily to local-focused charities in Asia, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S., and will support frontline medical workers, and supply and industry relief, as well as the fight against food insecurity. The PVH Foundation is also partnering with long-term partner Better Work to support activities that will benefit suppliers and workers during the ongoing health crisis.

Vans parent company, VF Corporation, has made an initial donation of $1.5 million to Covid-19 relief efforts through the VF Foundation, with money going to the Colorado Covid-19 Relief Fund, the CDC Foundation Emergency Response Fund and the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Wolverine Worldwide
The Rockford, Michigan-based outdoor and footwear company announced on Wednesday that it has donated 35,000 protective masks for frontline healthcare workers at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The group will continue to make further masks. The company’s Merrell footwear brand has also donated 1,200 pairs of shoes and boots to healthcare workers at a number of hospitals in Grand Rapids, as well as 250 neck gaiters, which can be used as backup PPE.Further to this, a group of the company’s other footwear brands, including Hush Puppies, Sperry, Keds, HyTest and Bates Footwear, have teamed up with the Two Ten Footwear Foundation to launch the Covid-19 Share Your Shoes Campaign. Through the initiative, the brands have donated over 13,000 pairs of shoes, which will be converted into cash and given to the families of footwear industry workers in need. A number of Wolverine Worldwide’s brands have also launched social media campaigns to support Covid-19 relief efforts.
